Rangers striker Kemar Roofe to not take part in Champions League group stages this season
Rangers have suffered a massive blow as Kemar Roofe will not take part in the UEFA Champions League group stages this season, according to the Daily Record.
The 29-year-old has struggled with injuries in the last 18 months and has not played a single game this season, and has not been named in the squad.
Therefore, as per the latest report, Roofe is not going to take part in Europe’s elite club competition where Rangers are placed alongside Liverpool, Ajax and Napoli.

Big loss
Rangers entered this season hoping to better their last season’s performances and they did so by already qualifying for the group stage of the Champions League.
In a long season where the side are likely to be a part of at least three major competitions, Giovanni van Bronckhorst would have been hoping for a fully fit squad which would have included someone like Roofe, especially when another striker Alfredo Morelos is also struggling for form.
Therefore, the absence of the former Leeds United striker will be a significant blow for the Gers and it will put more pressure on the likes of newly-signed forward Antonio Colak who will now have even more responsibility than before.

Roofe has been a Rangers player since the summer of 2020 when he moved from RSC Anderlecht in a deal worth £4.5 million.
Since then, Roofe has represented his current club in 72 matches across all competitions where he has managed to score 34 times and provided five assists in the process [Transfermarkt].
