Ally McCoist: Big money made this summer will not hide lack of Rangers physicality
Ally McCoist has insisted that Rangers are lacking real physicality despite the number of signings they have made in the recent summer transfer window.
The Bears brought in numerous new faces but ended up losing the likes of Calvin Bassey, Leon Balogun and Joe Aribo throughout their spine at Ibrox.
McCoist admitted that set-pieces are a real concern as Rangers get ready to take on Celtic in the first Old Firm of the season on Saturday afternoon (03 September).

Speaking live on BT Sports’ Scottish Football Extra on Friday evening [02 September], McCoist shared his big concern despite the money that has come in.
“We’ve received a lot of money, but at the same time, we’ve lost talent,” he said.
“And just as importantly for me, I think we’ve lost a real physicality.
“I really do think Rangers have lost a physicality. I would be a little bit concerned about that. I really, really would. Particularly at set plays, that’s a big concern for me.”

Problems?
Is this one of those areas that could be exploited today?
We have already seen this season a struggle from set-pieces and none more so than the first leg of our Champions League qualifier against PSV Eindhoven.
Missing the likes of John Souttar won’t help, and with Balogun gone, the baton is handed to James Sands to fill in alongside Connor Goldson.
The American is smooth in and out of possession, but was lucky to not be sent off last time out against Ross County after being beaten far too easily and bullied when the last man.
That simply cannot happen today against the likes of Giorgios Giakoumakis, who must be beaten at his own game and bullied by our defence.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst is happy with his squad and we trust him, and there would be no better time to silence the doubters than today by going into our neighbours’ backyard and leaving with all three points.
Bring it on.
