Simon Jordan predicts a ‘beating’ during Rangers v Celtic this weekend

Simon Jordan has predicted that Celtic will hand Rangers “a beating” during the Old Firm derby this weekend, live on talkSPORT.

The two Old Firm clubs go head to head at Celtic Park on Saturday lunch time, with the winner sitting at the top of the Scottish Premiership at the end of the weekend with both teams going into the game unbeaten so far.

But with Celtic having won five out of five scoring 21 goals and conceding just once, Jordan told his talkSPORT show with Jim White [2 September, 11:07] that he is expecting Rangers to get rolled over in the game.

“Yeah I think they’ll [Celtic] win,” he said.

“I said they’d handily beat them, didn’t I? I think they’ll hand them a beating, yes.”

Rangers have won four out of five league games so far, with a draw against Hibernian coming when they had nine men and conceded in the 92nd minute.

If you were listening to Jordan and taking his word for gospel you’d think that Rangers hadn’t essentially matched Celtic all season barring the one slip up.

Both clubs will be in the Champions League this season, both clubs will be competing for all three domestic trophies against each other and both have significantly strengthened their squads this summer.

Celtic have obviously been in very good form so far, but they’ve yet to be really tested and if Jordan thinks that this Rangers team will show up and just roll over against their fiercest rivals then he’s being ridiculous.

It’s easy to forget that Rangers are unbeaten in the last two Old Firm derbies including the Scottish Cup semi-final last year, so this is a game that will be very tight and close run if both teams show up.

A big performance is needed and there’s no reason not to expect one, and then we can all phone in on Monday morning to tell him to stop waffling on.
