Giovanni van Bronckhorst confirms Tom Lawrence out of Rangers v Celtic clash
Giovanni van Bronckhorst has confirmed that Rangers winger Tom Lawrence is unlikely to return before the international break.
The 28-year-old suffered a knee injury during the Gers’ triumph over Ross County last weekend.
Van Bronckhorst, while talking to Sky Sports (14:40) on Friday, confirmed that the winger will not take any part in the match against Celtic.

“Tom [Lawrence] is out for a couple of weeks,” he said. “He is going to be a huge loss but I don’t expect him to return before the international break.”
However, the 47-year-old provided some positive news as well where he revealed that striker Alfredo Morelos is available for selection by saying: “Yes Fredo is back and is in the squad.”
Big loss
Rangers are having a very impressive season where they have already qualified for the UEFA Champions League group stage after a decade of exile whereas, in the league competition, they are placed on the second position with 13 points, just two behind leaders Celtic whom they are facing this weekend.

The fans would’ve been hoping to have a full and fit squad to face their major rivals for the league competition which is why the injury to Lawrence will be a significant blow as he has shown already his value by becoming a key player to help the side in transitioning from defence to attack.
Therefore, it is not up to Van Bronckhorst to ensure that the Gers will be able to cope without their newly-signed winger and secure a positive result.
Lawrence has already played nine matches for Rangers across all competitions ever since moving there in the summer this year on a free transfer and has scored thrice whereas provided a couple of assists as well [Transfermarkt].
