Dan Plumley: Rangers strike while iron is hot to secure new windfall, fans will love it
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Rangers...
Dan Plumley has insisted that Rangers have struck while the iron is hot to offer Champions League badges for fans on their matchday shirts.
The Finance Expert admitted that fans will be desperate to add them, and the £9.95 cost per print will hand the Bears another new significant windfall out of nowhere.
Rangers will be back in the Champions League for the first time in years after beating PSV Eindhoven and Union Saint-Gilloise in the play-offs over the past month.

“Absolutely, we have said it before, it’s an excess cost for the fans,” he exclusively told Ibrox News.
“They know that fans are prepared to do it and that a lot of them will do it so, any little extra you can squeeze from that is important.
“It’s another example of Rangers being commercially on the ball, and striking while the iron is hot as there is a lot of buzz around them being back in that competition and for a lot of fans, having that extra badge on the arm will mean a lot emotionally.
“So, you will get nearly £10 for each of them, you won’t generate millions, but it’s a smart play to do it.”

Smart.
Of course, everyone will have been hoping that they will have been available for free, but that doesn’t change anything for the Ibrox faithful.
The club will no doubt see a significant increase in fans getting the Champions League badges on their shirts, along with player name printing in the build-up to some huge games.
With Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax coming to town, compared to teams like Brondby last season in the Europa League, Ibrox is going to be crazier than ever.
Striking while the iron is hot, it makes perfect sense.
In other Rangers news, another brand new transfer is still on the cards at Ibrox outside of the window
