Stade de Reims fail in bid to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara
French side Stade de Reims made a late bid to sign Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara but were unsuccessful, according to Sky Sports.
Rumours about the future of the Finnish international continue to swirl right up towards the final transfer deadline with OGC Nice also ready to move for him before aborting their bid [Sacha Tavolieri].
The Gers want to keep hold of Kamara, who it was falsely reported did not train with the team earlier on deadline day, unless a bid of real value is to arrive that changes their mind, but it appears that was not the case with Reims.
Sky Sports Scotland posted on Twitter on Thursday (1 September): “Glen Kamara did train with the Rangers squad today and remains part of the squad. Nice are interested and Stade de Reims failed in a bid to sign him.”
The club were ready to make a move for young Belgian Nicolas Raskin if their 26-year-old were to leave, but that as yet, has not come to pass [Tavolieri].
Time running out
Nothing can be known for certain until at least a few hours past the close of the window but the chances of Kamara leaving clearly diminish with every passing minute.
What is clear is that there is a good deal of interest around him so if one of the Ligue 1 sides get sufficiently desperate to land a midfield option right at the death a big offer may still come in.
The same is obviously the case with any other club who are alerted to his availability, but clearly Ross Wilson and company are not just going to give him away.

Unless they have a deal lined up on Raskin or an alternative that they only need turn around and say yes to then the closer it gets to the deadline the less sense it would make to even accept a large offer.
Back in the Champions League and intent on mounting a challenge to wrest the Scottish Premiership title back across Glasgow, Giovanni van Bronckhorst is going to need all the weapons at his disposal that he can get his hands on.
Kamara has been a key part of plenty of important games in the Dutchman’s short time in charge and is someone he knows he can rely on, so there would even be risk in trading a known quantity for an unknown one now and surely it would be preferable for him to stay.
In other Rangers news, the club are definitely in the market for late deals if they can get the ones they want.
