Rangers could earn £1million+ windfall as Billy Gilmour closes in on Brighton move

Rangers are set to rake in more than £1million as Brighton close in on the signing of Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour, according to Football Scotland.

The online outlet has reported on its website that the Bears included clauses in the deal to lose the Scottish sensation in his move to London all those years ago.

It never quite worked for Gilmour at Stamford Bridge, and now he is set to move on, something which should see Rangers take advantage of the clauses.

With a medical set to take place this evening, it is unknown whether or not the clauses will be activated instantly and the money gets sent at the same time.

Brighton are getting a young midfielder who is ready to explode, and it will be a proud moment to see him hopefully smash it in the Premier League.

There were hopes and talks that Gilmour could return to Ibrox on loan, but that isn’t happening with few deals happening at Ibrox, if any in the end.

Making it rain.

This has been the summer of windfalls coming in at Ibrox.

With Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey being sold for big, big money, transfers were made in their numbers and we still ended up with huge profits.

Then, Giovanni van Bronckhorst masterminds our path into the Champions League, which could bring up to £40million into the club throughout the run.

Add on this clause with Gilmour and another seven-figure fee coming through the door, and we couldn’t have wished for a better window in terms of financials.

Gilmour will always be welcome back at Ibrox, but that looks unlikely now unless something goes dramatically wrong at Brighton, but he will have our best wishes.

Could this surprise last-minute development in the Premier League lead to Rangers looking into another move of their own? The fee could somewhat cover a new arrival as if nothing had happened.

All eyes are on Ibrox.
