Brazilian midfielder Evander live deadline day option for Rangers

Midtjylland midfielder Evander is a “live option” for Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Rangers as the transfer deadline edges closer according to The Daily Record.

The Scottish Daily Express reported on 19 August that the Gers had no interest in the 24-year-old midfielder despite being aware of his talent.

However, The Daily Record has suggested (1 September) that Evander is a live option for van Bronckhorst and that nothing should be ruled out when it comes to the Brazilian on deadline day.

It’s understood that Evander’s move to Galatasaray is off after talks between Midtjylland and the Turkish giants broke down.

Go get him

Rangers have been quiet on the transfer front in recent days, with potential exits from Ibrox the only real talking points of late.

However, if the club really want to make a statement at the end of the transfer window, then a move for Evander should be top of their list.

Ross Barkley is another name that has been thrown about but realistically a move for the 28-year-old could well see a similar outcome to Aaron Ramsey’s miserable spell at Ibrox.

Rangers

Evander is a younger option who scored 17 goals last season whilst operating in a midfield role.

Tom Lawrence has adopted the goalscoring midfield role well for van Bronckhorst’s side in recent weeks, but another option would be ideal for when Rangers are chasing games and need threats from all over the pitch.

It’s understood that Midtjylland are holding out for £6.5million for Evander and if that is the case then the Gers should be doing all they can to bring him to Ibrox.

He’s still relatively young, is in good form, and he wouldn’t break the bank.

At the moment a move looks unlikely, but with only a matter of hours left an Ibrox departure could see the Gers move for Evander gather pace.

In other Rangers news, the club have clear run to sign free agent Ross Barkley.
