Rangers don’t expect busy transfer deadline day despite Champions League riches
Rangers are not expecting a busy transfer deadline day despite the major financial boost of reaching the Champions League group stages.
RangersReview and talkSPORT journalist Derek Clark reported via his personal Twitter account on Wednesday (31 August) that he’s been told by a source that not much is expected to happen on Thursday before midnight (1 September).
However, Clark did admit that might not stick.
When a fan said he’s not convinced about anyone being signed, Clark said: “Told the club not expecting a busy day but that can all change.”
Terrible
If Ross Wilson and Giovanni van Bronckhorst think this squad is complete, they’re wrong.
We still feel as though we’re short of a left-sided centre-back, there’s a real need for a number eight, a new right-winger has been needed for years and with all the drama revolving around Alfredo Morelos, a new striker should also be required.
If any of the key players leave, such as Morelos, Ryan Kent or Glen Kamara, then we’d expect to see a change in tact at Ibrox.

However, it’s disappointing that after reaching the Champions League group stages that moves haven’t been made to add significant quality to the squad.
Obviously, we’re going to be able to attract better quality players now because we can promise them games against the likes of Liverpool, Napoli and Ajax.
We also have extra funds to be able to sign them with football finance expert Dan Plumley telling Ibrox News on 18 August that making the group stages will boost the coffers in Govan by £16.9million.
What a waste if we fail to add quality to the side now because by the time the next transfer window opens, we might not be a Champions League club anymore.
In other Rangers news, Dutch newspapers reacted dramatically to the Gers’ win over PSV in the Champions League.
