Rangers defender Nikola Katic agrees move to FC Zurich, could make Saturday debut
Frozen out Rangers defender Nikola Katic has agreed a move to FC Zurich before the window closes, according to Germanjik and confirmed by The 4th Official.
The 25-year-old was one of only two players who was left with no role in the Gers squad this season, along with Stephen Kelly who is also leaving for Livingstone T4O confirms, after spending last season on loan at Hajduk Split.
The Croatian side chose not to make the move permanent, leaving the centre-back as the odd man out at Ibrox with Connor Goldson and James Sands preferred ahead of him, as well as new signings being brought in at the position in John Souttar and Ben Davies.

According to the Germanjik report he has already agreed all the details with the Swiss champions and could make his debut as early as this weekend against Lugano (3 September).
Fresh start
After falling out of favour with the Light Blues this is probably the best outcome for everyone since Katic appeared to have zero chance of involvement under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
It wasn’t always that way and his time with the club will always be remembered for scoring the winner as Rangers beat Celtic at Parkhead in 2019 for the first time in a decade.
Plenty has changed since then though and it looks like the Bears are doing a good job of clearing out players who have no future at the club.

That should leave space for them to add one or two in the final hours of the window if the right opportunity presents itself, but there appears not to be a glaring need that must be filled.
If Alfredo Morelos is to be welcomed back into the fold and he has a renewed sense of commitment that would be as good as any signing the club could conjure up this week.
While Katic gets to play football again for a team that wants him, the Gers get his salary off the wage bill and both sides can move on to the next chapter.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton fears one Ibrox figure as the first Old Firm derby of the season approaches.
