Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst shares outcome of Alfredo Morelos meeting
Alfredo Morelos is expected to stay at Rangers beyond the transfer deadline after a positive meeting between him and Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
The Colombian was dropped from the first-team squad for the recent Champions League game against PSV Eindhoven over concerns with his attitude and fitness, following a red card against Hibernian.
The manager had claimed that the two parties would have a meeting this week to discuss his future at the club, and he told official club partner Heart and Hand podcast that there has been a positive change and the player still has a big part to play in the future.
“Yeah well I said it before, I had a good chat with him on Sunday,” he said.
“He had a good week to train but to think about his future. I had a good talk with him so as I said before he is still a Rangers player. He’s going to be important for us in the months of the season.
“I saw a change in his attitude, the way he worked. He needs to continue working like this for the next coming months to be the player he can be. A player who can give us a lot.”
Great news
It was always a big call from Van Bronckhorst to leave Morelos out and publicly reveal the reasons for it, because the reaction could have gone one of two ways.
With Morelos’ track record there was a very real possibility of him downing tools and throwing his toys out of the pram and demanding a transfer away, but thankfully what has happened is the opposite.

He’s put the work in, changed his attitude and is working hard to get back in the manager’s good books which can only be a positive thing for Rangers going forward.
With so many important games coming up in such a short space of time, the team will be in a far better position should the 26-year-old get back to his best.
Fans can be delighted their hero has reacted in the way they would have wanted him to, and now Rangers can focus on beating Celtic and Ajax over the next week to prove they’re here to stay at the highest level.
