Rangers not pursuing deal for Nicolas Raskin, Mateusz Zukowski could leave – 4th Official
Rangers are not pursuing a deal for Belgian midfielder Nicolas Raskin currently, while defender Mateusz Zukowski could leave before the deadline according to The Fourth Official.
The club had been interested in doing a deal for Raskin, who currently plays for Standard Liege and had been reported to be commanding a fee of around £4.6m [TFO, 27 August].
However Rangers had been hopeful of dropping that fee down to do a deal, but the current fee is too high and they’re no longer actively pushing for a deal.
The respected online source also claims that young right-back Zukowski could leave before the window slams shut on Thursday night, although there is no mention of where he could end up.
Zukowski only joined the club in January and was recently linked to Lech Poznan, having been left out of the match day squad entirely for the 4-0 win over Ross County at the weekend.
Good stuff
Raskin is a talented young player but from the little that many have seen of him he is hardly a special talent and with his current club demanding a little under £5m for him despite having just one year left on his deal, it’s not worth it.

Rangers need reinforcements no doubt but they need to be of a certain level to come into the squad and with plenty of young talent already available it’s not worth spending a big amount of cash.
He’s certainly not better than current loanee Malik Tillman and with Alex Lowry pressing for a place in the first-team regularly too there is an argument as to whether or not it’s worth pursuing at all.
As for Zukowski it just simply hasn’t worked out for the Poland Under-21 international so far and if he gets an option to go elsewhere for regular football and Rangers can make some cash from him then it makes sense for all.
