Keith Jackson shares verdict on future of Rangers duo Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos
Rangers are set to make a decision on the futures of Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent before the closure of the transfer window on Thursday, says Keith Jackson.
The star attacking duo have both entered the final year of their contract at Ibrox and are so far yet to agree terms on a new deal, with talks for the Colombian’s contract being shelved amid his recent issues.
And Jackson, writing in the Daily Record on 29 August, believes that while it could be time to cut ties with Morelos, Rangers could find themselves in a position where it’s “impossible to replace” Kent and that means doing all they can to keep him.

“All eyes will be on Ibrox where Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent are entering the final year of their contracts,” he said.
“Morelos might be more trouble than he’s worth. But Kent could prove impossible to replace.”
Decisions
There has been plenty of interest in both players over the years, owing to their brilliant performances in a Rangers shirt since joining and before this season both had been guaranteed starters.
Kent is still in that category and was excellent as the club qualified for the Champions League with an away win over PSV Eindhoven, but Morelos’ future is up in the air following his exclusion from the squad for attitude reasons and the form of summer signing Antonio Colak.

Rangers know that they are both capable of performing at the highest level and if they were to leave in the coming days it would be a huge blow to the team’s chances this season, but there is a decision to be made.
Should they not be sold then both players would be able to talk to clubs overseas about a free transfer in January and there is no guarantee that they would put pen to paper on a new deal, meaning Rangers lose their best players for nothing.
They still have the chance of replacing them in this window should a deal come to fruition, and as Jackson says, all eyes will be on Ibrox to see what happens now.
