Journo ‘wouldn’t be surprised’ if Rangers sign striker and midfielder before Thursday deadline
Rangers could sign a striker and a midfielder before Thursday’s transfer deadline by spending their Champions League money, according to the Daily Record.
Gers secured their place in this season’s group stages with a win over PSV Eindhoven, securing themselves a windfall of a minimum of £16.9m which could rise to around £25m with bonuses and added revenue.
And with that added cash, journalist David McCarthy says he wouldn’t be surprised to see two new faces rocking up at Ibrox before the end of the summer transfer window to bolster the squad.

“The last few days always throws up something so it wouldn’t be a surprise if Rangers, in particular, do business with some of the Champions League money they’ve earned,” he said.
“I reckon a midfielder and/or striker will come through the door.”
Needed?
The club are still in need of some additions for the rest of the season, especially now that they’ll be competing at the very highest level against Ajax, Liverpool and Napoli.
They have good depth in attacking areas of the pitch and even in midfield, but defensively an injury to either Connor Goldson or James Tavernier and they could find themselves in a bit of bother.
That’s why it’s interesting to see that Van Bronckhorst is targeting the other areas of the team for strengthening, with additions surely only needed if exits are to happen.
Either way it’s good to see that the club aren’t resting on their laurels and that Rangers are hoping to be busy in the final days of the window to really push on all fronts, including the Champions League.
Fans will be delighted with the ambition being shown and the performances of the players so far mean this is shaping up to be a great season already.
