Rangers: Giovanni van Bronckhorst omments on Ryan Kent’s goalscoring ability

Giovanni van Bronckhorst wants more goals from Rangers star Ryan Kent.

The winger, who started in his usual left-wing position against Ross County, was fantastic in the Gers’ empathic 4-0 win on 27 August.

However, he failed to get on the scoresheet and his manager commented on his goalscoring prowess in the post-match press conference.

He said, via Football Scotland: “If you see his stats last year one of the things we wanted was him to keep assisting the players but also score goals.

“I think for him he always has the full-back behind him who’s coming a lot.

“Borna (Barisic) is always supporting and being right-footed your first intention is to go inside and that makes it really hard for defenders.

“He’s playing well, with the second Colak goal he started the move with the turn and pass to Colak.”

More goals from Kent?

The 25-year-old, who came through the youth ranks at Liverpool, has been an undeniable success since joining the Gers in 2018.

He has made 130 appearances for the club, and his performances have helped the club regain their position back at the top of Scottish football while also competing in European competitions.

However, with all his quality, consistent goalscoring has been a quality that has evaded him during his six-year stay at Ibrox.

Since moving to the club in 2018, initially on loan from Liverpool, he has scored 30 goals for the club, averaging five goals a season for the club.

His highest goalscoring season for the club came in the 20/21 season, where he scored eight league goals on the way to Rangers winning the Scottish Championship.

For all his talent, creativity and tenacity, he does not put the ball in the back of the net at a frequent rate and he will be hoping to improve on that this season.
