D-Day today for Alfredo Morelos at Rangers as Giovanni van Bronckhorst shares Ibrox development
Alfredo Morelos is set for “D-Day” at Rangers on Sunday with Giovanni van Bronckhorst set to hold “crisis talks” with the striker, according to the Scottish Mail on Sunday.
The newspaper reported on 28 August (page 151) that van Bronckhorst will be discussing the 26-year-old’s future at Ibrox after he was left out of the matchday squads for the over PSV in the Champions League qualifiers this week.
It is understood that Morelos’ omission was down to “fitness and attitude issues” with the Colombian getting himself sent off for violent conduct against Hibernian last week.

Outstayed his welcome
Morelos will go down as a modern-day hero at Ibrox.
However, for all the good he’s done for the Gers, he’s also done a lot of bad and it’s hard to shake the memory of his many red cards, his ill-discipline, his struggles with fitness and his previous admission that he’d like to play elsewhere.
Since joining the Light Blues from HJK Helsinki in 2017, Morelos has scored 113 goals in 228 appearances across all competitions for the club.
He’s won the Scottish Premiership, he’s won the Scottish Cup, he’s played in a Europa League final and if he stays, he’ll probably get to play in the Champions League group stages.
However, we don’t feel as though he should get that latter opportunity.

Morelos’ attitude has always been an issue but we’ve had to bear it because he’s been so vital to the team.
But with Antonio Colak more than stepping up in the absence of the hot-heated Colombian, now’s the time to finally cut ties with him especially as his deal expires next year.
Unfortunately, we doubt we’ll get much money for a striker who’s got so many issues away from putting the ball in the back of the net.
We’ll have to see how that goes but Rangers probably should have made moves to sell Morelos at a much earlier point in this window.
In other Rangers news, the club wants to sign this multi-million player after a £16.9million development this week.
