Rangers interested Nicolas Raskin after he rejects rival offer in favour of Ibrox move

Rangers are interested in Belgian midfielder Nicholas Raskin and are expected to enter into negotiations with Standard Liege, The 4th Official reports.

The respected online source carries an exclusive that reveals the under-21 international has already turned down an approach from the reigning champions in his country, Club Brugge, because he is likes the idea of a move to Ibrox.

Although his club want €5.5million for him they reportedly expect the Light Blues to negotiate on that price.

According to T4O on Patreon, the 21-year-old, who plays as either a central or defensive midfielder apparently sees the Gers as “a good place to grow” after two full seasons in the Jupiler Pro League.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst already has a multitude of central options, although Glen Kamara’s future is currently up in the air.

The youngster has made 83 appearances for the Belgian side, scoring four goals and laying on 10 assists.

Big draw

After returning to the Champions League with victory in the Netherlands on Wednesday (24 August) it is perhaps no surprise that players like Raskin are going to be eager to move to Glasgow.

With the likes of John Lundstram, Ryan Jack, Steven Davis and James Sands available to fill central midfield options it doesn’t look like a pressing area of need.

But if the club are apparently willing to let Finnish international Kamara go, despite his role in many of the most important games over recent seasons, there will be a gap to fill.

It has been a very active transfer window so far, and while it looked like the business had already been concluded it seems as if there could still be some comings and goings in the final week.

Kamara seems like someone the manager would want to keep hold of for as long as possible, but if the club have caught wind of the fact that he will be looking to move on sooner or later and there is a potentially a lucrative bid on the horizon then that could explain the stance.

A young option to come in and develop behind the more senior players is a nice long-term plan, but ideally Raskin would be expected to contribute straight away if he is to replace Kamara.

He has made a lot of appearances already for a young player so could be ready to slot into the rotation immediately, and an exciting week at Ibrox might be about to get even more interesting.

In other Rangers news, the club could be set for a bumper £100million revenue this year which would be a record for the club.
