Dutch newspapers react as Rangers dump PSV out of Champions League with memorable win
The Dutch media have been reacting to Eredivisie title-challengers PSV being knocked out of Champions League qualifying by Rangers on Wednesday night.
Antonio Colak’s goal in the 60th minute was enough to secure a 1-0 victory on the night at the Philips Stadion and a 3-2 victory on aggregate for Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side.
De Telegraaf says van Bronckhorst’s men were “too strong” for PSV and that the Philips Stadion was “plunged into a total grave mood due to the victory of the Scots”.

In another story, journalist Valentijn Driessen rather dramatically says the “Dutch disease kills PSV”.
AD dubbed PSV are “powerless” as a blunder cost them a spot in the Champions League group stages
Eindhovens Dagblad, who have also gone with a dramatic headline, say PSV slumped to a “gigantic deception, with very painful financial consequences”.
Sensational
Well, the Dutch are taking this well.
In truth, it was always a tough draw for van Bronckhorst’s side but we’ve seen them overcome far tougher opposition in the Europa League this year win Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig.
PSV started the game very fast and Cody Gakpo and Luuk de Jong were on great form.
Rangers had their moments though and could have easily took the lead themselves with Colak, Malik Tillman and Ryan Kent causing a nuisance in the attack.
De Jong’s injury and half-time exit from the game did have an impact and it allowed the Gers to get more and more involved knowing that PSV were more futile up front.

It helped and a forced mistake by Tillman allowed him to square the ball to Colak to tap home into an empty net.
It was just a tap-in. But what a tap-in it was.
Rangers are now set to reap the financial rewards of getting back into the Champions League group stages.
We cannot wait to see who we draw.
