Rangers: Tom English slams ‘stupid’ Alfredo Morelos and makes Antonio Colak claim

Alfredo Morelos is the centre of every conversation at Rangers right now but Tom English doesn’t think he will be missed that much.

Sky Sports reported on 23 August that the 25-year-old had been left out of the squad travelling to the Netherlands to take on PSV Eindhoven in the second leg of their Champions League playoff tie.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst is therefore left with just Antonio Colak among the travelling players who is a natural striker with the score locked at 2-2 after the first leg at Ibrox.

Pundit Tom English does not see Morelos’ absence as a problem though with the Croatian’s start to life in Glasgow while also blasting the Colombian striker.

“The red card was stupid, but it was his first red in more than 100 games,” English said via his personal Twitter account. “The stuff that Van Bronckhorst talks about here suggests a deeper malaise with Morelos.

“He’s a problem and a solution all in one. Rangers can afford to take a harder line with him now that they have Colak.”

Unsurprising

If there was any player within the Rangers squad that you would think would be an issue it would be Morelos and it is surprising that it has taken this long for something to happen.

There has always been an attitude problem of some description and Colak’s arrival and fast start has clearly caused the Colombian to feel threatened and he has not taken it well.

Rangers

Before the 28-year-old was signed this summer, Morelos knew that there was no challenger to his throne as the club’s number nine with Kemar Roofe regularly failing to live up to the challenge.

Competition for places should see the best of both players come out as they try to oust each other but while Colak has turned up in that regard, Morelos is shying away from the battle.

His red card against Hibernian was perhaps a turning point for van Bronckhorst and with his contract ending in 12 months’ time, maybe now is the time to sell before he leaves for nothing.

In other Rangers news, PSV will field one of their star players as Manchester United have delayed a move to let him face the Light Blues.
