Tam McManus backs Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst amid major Alfredo Morelos decision

Tam McManus has backed Giovanni van Bronckhorst after his decision to drop Alfredo Morelos from the Rangers squad for the clash with PSV Eindhoven.

The Colombian striker was left out of the travelling party to the Netherlands after concerns emerged over his fitness and attitude, following his red card against Hibernian at the weekend.

The club are said to be behind the manager’s decision and according to McManus on his personal Twitter account, this decision has been coming because Morelos has been “dreadful” since returning from injury earlier this month.

“This has been coming,” he said. “To not even put him on the pitch v PSV at home hinted at something amiss.

“Then he costs his team two points on Saturday with a stupid red card.

“His attitude & condition in terms of fitness since coming back from injury has been dreadful. Fair play to GVB.”

Correct

It’s been coming because we all know that Morelos is into the final 12 months of his deal and it’s pretty obvious that he’d be happy to leave if an offer came in for him.

The club moved quickly this summer to ensure they had a goalscorer in the team just incase, with Antonio Colak shining so far in the lone striker role and leading the scoring charts for the club.

Rangers

Morelos returned with a goal after injury against Kilmarnock, but he’s looked sluggish ever since and his eighth red card in a blue shirt against Hibs was a reminder that he can be a liability just as much as a match winner.

Hopefully this is a message to him that he can’t do whatever he likes and that he’s not bigger than the club, so it will whip him back into shape.

If not, then the club have a decision to make in the final ten days of the transfer window.
