Rangers outcast Morelos must work his way back – van Bronckhorst
Giovanni van Bronckhorst says there is a way for Alfredo Morelos to work his way back into his first-team plans at Rangers.
The striker has been left out of the Gers’ squad to face PSV in the second leg of the huge Champions League qualifying clash on 24 August.
However, van Bronckhorst believes Morelos will have to do to earn a place in the team again, stating that players had already been informed about his decision to omit the Colombian from the squad.
The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell relayed what van Bronckhorst told the media on Tuesday (23 August).
The Dutchman said that it had “been building for a while” and “there is a way back into the team if he shows that he is physically and mentally ready”.
The Morelos Conundrum.
The Colombian striker has earned cult-hero status amongst the Ibrox faithful, however, it has not always been plain-sailing for the 26-year-old.
He has had a history of discipline problems since joining the club in 2017, being sent off four times during his six-year Rangers tenure.
Despite him being a reliable goal-scorer his numerous disciplinary issues have always cast a shadow on his Rangers career, and now they are the topic of conversation again.

His red card against Hibernian was a costly one as it changed the whole direction of the game and ended up in the Gers dropping two points in a game they really should have picked up all three.
The fact that the Dutch manager now no longer feels like he can trust the Colombian striker is a huge indictment on his character and potentially his future.
Time will tell if Morelos is able to knuckle down and prove his worth to Rangers again, or if this will spell the beginning of the end for him.
In other Rangers news, four players have been ruled out for the game against PSV.
