Alan Rough: Rangers need to get their act together for PSV Eindhoven CL clash
Alan Rough believes that Rangers’ defence must get their act together ahead of their Champions League qualifier second leg v PSV Eindhoven.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side travel to Eindhoven with the tie firmly in the balance after a 2-2 draw at Ibrox last week.
However, Rough believes that the Gers must improve defensively after conceding two goals from set-pieces in the first leg at Ibrox.

Talking on the PLZ Football Show, [14:30, Monday 21 August], Rough said: “It’s a massive night for them and Rangers’ strength in Europe has been their defence and that hasn’t been the case so far this season.
“So their defence really need to get their act together, and you will expect the defence and the goalkeeper to come up with the saves.
“But on the break, there is every chance that they could score a goal and they will be looking at Ryan Kent to do something a little bit special.”
Solid night needed
Rangers need to be more rigid defensively this evening if they harbour any hopes of reaching the Champions League group stage.
PSV are a strong outfit at home, but the Gers must remain confident of hurting the Eredivisie side on the break.
Rangers will likely be under the cosh for significant parts of the match, which is why they need to show a higher level of defensive organisation, much like they did in their run to the Europa League final in the 2021/22 season.
If van Bronckhorst’s side can remain tight at the back, then they certainly have the ammunition to hurt PSV on the counterattack.

Ryan Kent needs to put in a special performance, and Antonio Colak will be required to continue his excellent goalscoring form for the Gers.
A clinical moment on the break could well be the difference in this encounter and the Croatian’s ability in front of goal could prove to be vital.
Rangers need to deliver in what could prove to be a vital night for the club’s aspirations for the 2022/23 season moving forward.
