Michael Stewart: Antonio Colak movement was wonderful for Tom Lawrence goal v Hibernian

Michael Stewart praised a “wonderful” movement from Antonio Colak in the lead-up to Tom Lawrence’s goal in Rangers’ draw against Hibernian.

The Croatian forward made a clever run before Lawrence expertly finished in the 59th minute to restore Rangers’ lead at Easter Road.

Stewart felt the 28-year-old played a vital part in the build-up to the goal.

Talking on BBC Sportscene [17:00, 20 August] Stewart said: “It was absolutely wonderful movement from Colak.

“It then allowed for Lawrence to come round [and score].”

He’s at home

Colak seems very much at home in a Rangers shirt at the moment after his summer move to Ibrox.

The striker is exactly what Giovanni van Bronckhorst needed after the departure of Joe Aribo in the summer window.

The Croatian forward has proven to be a nuisance for opposition defenders and has very clever movement which has allowed him plenty of chances during the opening months of his Ibrox career.

He isn’t blessed with the best technical ability, but he certainly knows where the back of the net is and that was ultimately what he was signed to do.

Furthermore, the Croatian is working well with Rangers attacking midfielders and wider players, who are becoming used to his movement and the way he likes to link play.

He has certainly hit the ground running and looks like a live wire in the penalty area whenever the ball is near him.

Rangers fans should be absolutely delighted with the start their new frontman has made at Ibrox.

In other Rangers news, this Ibrox star has been dubbed as a realistic late summer signing for Aston Villa.
