Rangers not interested in signing Evander from Midtjylland

Rangers are preparing for a “crazy” end to the transfer window if they progress past PSV Eindhoven, but have no interest in Evander according to Scott Burns.

The Gers have completed seven first-team signings so far this summer with John Souttar, Antonio Colak, Tom Lawrence, Malik Tillman, Rabbi Matondo, Ridvan Yilmaz and Ben Davies all moving to Ibrox.

But with a potential place in the Champions League group stages waiting for them later this week, Giovanni van Bronckhorst would be interested in strengthening his squad further should they make it.

One player that won’t be part of those incomings though is Brazilian attacking midfielder Evander, despite reports linking him to the club.

The report states that while the club have scouted him, he is not part of their transfer plans and is not wanted as it stands.

Should the club not make it to the group stages, Van Bronckhorst is likely to continue with his current squad unless there is a late move for one of his star players that were to see them leave.

Crazy

Well, here we go. Rangers have been great in the transfer market so far this summer with swift moves completed to strengthen the squad despite losing two key players.

The club have money to spend after receiving eight figure sums for both Calvin Bassey and Joe Aribo, but the boss clearly has an idea of the profile he wants and won’t move for just anyone.

Champions League football will undoubtedly be enough for the club to be able to attract a higher calibre of player, but it will be tough for them to beat PSV in the Netherlands on Wednesday.

If they don’t manage it, the current squad has already shown it has great depth and quality for a run in the Europa League and the Scottish Premiership title race.

It’s sure to be an exciting final week or so at Ibrox, whether it be incomings or exits, and fingers crossed it leaves the fans with a smile on their faces.
