FARE representative to attend Rangers v PSV, sectarian singing could lead to full Ibrox closure
Rangers fans will be monitored by a representative of FARE on Tuesday night when they play against PSV in the Champions League play-offs at Ibrox, according to Derek Clark.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on 16 August, the Rangers Review journalist reported that the Gers could be dealt with a partial or full stadium closure if there is any evidence of sectarian signing in the stands at Ibrox.
FARE (Football Against Racism in Europe) are an anti-discrimination group who’ve previously had to deny targetting Rangers [Guardian].
Just stop it
Rangers fans can moan all they like about FARE attending games at Ibrox.
But if there wasn’t sectarian chants from sections of our crowd in almost every single game then they wouldn’t have to bother, would they?
According to Four Lads Had A Dream, FARE have tickets at the front of the Broomloan Stand, near to BF1.
If they hear anything sectarian – and they can prove it – Ibrox will be partially or fully closed at some point and it will probably be for one of our European games this season.
If we make the Champions League group stages and we draw a big team like a Real Madrid or a Manchester City, imagine how terrible it would be for that game to be played in an empty Ibrox.
These songs need to stop and fans need to better police one another to snuff out the idiots who drag the name of the club through the gutter.
We’re playing against PSV. Remember that.
They’re a Dutch side who we share no rivalry with other than the fact we want to beat them across two legs of a Champions League play-off.
That’s it.
In other Rangers news, Celtic fans will be in meltdown over what PSV tweeted about the Gers on Monday night.
