Celtic fans will be in meltdown over PSV tweet about Rangers ahead of Champions League showdown at Ibrox

Rangers face PSV on Tuesday night in the first leg of their Champions League qualifier play-off at Ibrox.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst will go toe to toe with his former Netherlands teammate Ruud van Nistelrooy, who’s enjoyed a good start to the season in charge of PSV.

It’ll be a huge occasion at Ibrox on 16 August and fingers crossed, the Gers will be able to take a decent lead into the second leg in Eindhoven next week.

Ahead of the game, PSV’s Twitter account shared some stats and facts about Rangers for their fans to look at on Monday night (15 August).

And those facts are bound to lead to a meltdown among Celtic fans as PSV go against their weird theory that the Gers were only founded in 2012.

PSV’s Twitter account brilliantly says that the club was founded in 1872 and adds in the fact that we’re 55-times Scottish league champions.

Ever since the 2012 financial issues at Ibrox, Celtic fans have peddled the myth that Rangers ceased to exist and that a new club was formed.

Clearly, that wasn’t the case as Rangers kept hold of their UEFA co-efficient rankings and continued to be globally recognised as the same football club.

Well, we say globally. But there’s a small area in the East End of Glasgow that seems to think different to what the rest of the world does.

If you look at PSV’s tweet, you’ll find that there are just as many Celtic fans replying to it as Rangers fans – strange that?

And we’re sure this story will get plenty of comments from Celtic fans too because clearly, they’d rather read about their famous rivals instead of what’s going on at their own club right now.

In other Rangers news, Michael Stewart managed to dig out one negative about the Gers’ 4-0 win over St Johnstone while on BBC Sportscene.
