Rangers have to open door to Alex Lowry & Leon King loan exits before it’s too late
In Alex Lowry and Leon King, Rangers have two of Scottish football’s most exciting talents but they are now at a crossroads in their career.
The Light Blues made a number of high-profile additions for the senior team over the summer which has suddenly put more bodies in the way of the two teenagers and their goal of first-team football at Ibrox.
They have both gone beyond B team football in truth with Lowry, in particular, shining under Giovanni van Bronckhorst with two goals in seven games, including a debut strike against Stirling Albion in the Scottish Cup.
The Bears manager has to recognise that staying at Auchenhowie and playing in the Scottish fifth tier is no longer beneficial to either of them and he has to start sounding them out for loans.
Whether that is within Scotland or further afield is up to the bosses at Ibrox but a deal has to be agreed upon fairly soon if it is to happen.
Ideally, clubs want their finalised squads sorted before the season begins but for the vast majority, there is still work to do well after the first ball has been kicked.

Rangers have also signed a wave of young talent over the summer that need to gain experience in the youth sides at Auchenhowie so Lowry and King would also be hindering their development by staying without senior football.
van Bronckhorst might want the extra safety of numbers in case of injuries but he can’t hold on to them all forever and expect them to fulfil their potential.
There is no doubt that both teenagers are likely to be regular players at Ibrox one day but that does not mean they have to stay until that moment comes and they should be begging to be allowed out on loan before 1 September.
In other Rangers news, Chris Sutton has given his Champions League verdict and even suggests that he wants the Gers to go on and qualify against PSV Eindhoven.
