Burnley ready multi-million bid to sign Rangers forward Fashion Sakala amid ‘major uncertainty’

Burnley are getting ready to bid £3million for Fashion Sakala amid “major uncertainty” surrounding his future at Rangers, according to the Scottish Daily Express.

The newspaper reported via their website on Wednesday (10 August) that Burnley manager Vincent Kompany knows Sakala, 25, well having played against each other in Belgium back in 2019.

It is understood that Sakala has spoken about being frustrated by Giovanni van Bronckhorst using him as a wide player instead of a striker and new signings this summer have pushed the Zambia international down the pecking order in Govan.

Sell him

If Burnley offer £3million, Rangers should try to hold out for a bit more.

Then, they should sell Sakala.

He joined us on a free transfer from Oostende last summer but struggled to make a big impact in his debut season at Ibrox.

Although he was played in the wide areas more often than not, Sakala scored 12 goals and supplied seven assists in his 50 appearances across all competitions.

While those numbers don’t sound too bad, they’re boosted by goals against teams like Motherwell, Stirling Albion, Annan Athletic and Dundee.

Sakala did, however, score against Celtic in May last season but overall, you have to admit that the Zambian’s performances have been below par.

He hasn’t played a single minute so far this season with van Bronckhorst leaving the attacker as an unused substitute in three of four games and leaving him out of the squad entirely in the 2-0 win over Kilmarnock.

As he signed as a free agent, any seven-figure fee would be good for Sakala.
