Belgian newspapers react as Rangers dump Union Saint-Gilloise out of Champions League with 3-0 win
Rangers turned around a two-goal deficit with a 3-0 victory over Union Saint-Gilloise at Ibrox on Tuesday night to reach the Champions League play-offs.
Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men will face PSV in a bid to reach the Champions League group stages for the first time since the 2010/11 season.
James Tavernier, Antonio Colak and Malik Tillman scored the goals to secure the 3-2 aggregate victory for the Light Blues, leading to a big reaction in the Belgian press.

Het Laatste Nieuws reported on their website that “Superpower Rangers FC succeeded in its ‘Greatest Comeback'” in the “mythical stadium” of Ibrox.
There was also, randomly, a mention of the Loch Ness Monster before admitting that Union Saint-Gilloise are “more appropriate in the Europa League at the moment”.
Het Nieuwsblad reported that Union shot themselves in the foot by surrendering their two-goal lead, conceding a penalty and getting a man sent off at Ibrox before saying: “Bye bye dream, bye bye millions.”

Yet another European stunner
Rangers can’t keep doing this, can they?
If they are, they could at least get the job done in the first leg by winning by four or five goals instead of going behind and giving us all this drama.
The year of 2022 will go down in Rangers history as it has seen some of the greatest performances in European football the club has ever had.
Our Europa League campaign sadly ended with a penalty shoot-out defeat to Frankfurt but maybe a new chapter in the Champions League group stages is just about to start.
PSV stand in our way – a club that Rangers’ Dutch manager van Bronckhorst should know very well.
The former Feyenoord player and manager has gone toe to toe many times with the Eindhoven outfit, who brag some top-quality players like Cody Gakpo and Joey Veerman.
It’ll be tough but in the last few months, Rangers have beaten better teams in European football.
In other Rangers news, Jamie O’Hara reacted instantly to the win at full-time.
