Rangers make approach to sign Denis Bouanga who appears set to leave

Rangers have reportedly made an approach to sign Saint-Etienne winger Denis Bouanga who appears set to leave the club this summer.

According to French media outlet Le 10 Sport, several German clubs have monitored the 27-year-old while Brugge and Anderlecht have initiated contact like Gers to sign him.

The Gabon international is on his way out of the French club but his fate is unknown and he is expected to make a decision soon over his next club.

Snap him up

Bouanga is an extremely versatile attacker who can play all across the front three – giving Giovanni van Bronckhorst another Swiss Army knife.

With the futures of Fashion Sakala, Kemar Roofe and Alfredo Morelos still hanging in the balance, it does make sense to prepare for contingencies.

Should Rangers fail to qualify for the Champions League, there’s a good chance that Ryan Kent may also look for a way out.

He has continually been linked with a move south of the border and a mid-table Premier League certainly would not mind taking a punt on the English attacker.

In Bouanga, Gers will also get a lightning-quick winger, much like Rabbi Matondo, who’s direct and extremely devastating on the counter-attack.

Speaking about him in March 2022, then Saint-Etienne manager Pascal Dupraz said, “He has incredible qualities, the kind of qualities needed to play in the Champions League.” [Africa News]

Hopefully, the club take their interest forward and do more than just approach the Ligue 2 club over his availability.

In other Rangers news, Celtic and the Gers are at loggerheads over a record-breaking SPFL midfielder and a bid for him has already been tabled.
