Giovanni van Bronckhorst shares Ryan Kent contract update at Rangers

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has stated that Ryan Kent and Alfredo Morelos are “more than open” to extending their contracts with Rangers.

Both players are in the final year of their contracts at the Ibrox Stadium and have been therefore linked with a number of clubs in Europe.

Van Bronckhorst was quoted in a report by the Daily Record where he expressed optimism about keeping both players at the club.

“We know the quality both Morelos and Kent bring to the team,” he said.  “They have been part of the squad for many years now. Ryan’s qualities are on a high level.

“Talks with him to extend his contract are also happening at the moment. It’s the same with Alfredo.

“Hopefully they will sign new contracts that will keep them at Ibrox for longer than this season. Both of them love being at this club.

“They are important players who are loved by everyone involved in the squad and the fans. They are more than open to extending.

“Hopefully we’ll come to a deal. I’m very happy with both, they bring quality to this squad and performances on the pitch. Hopefully, they can sign new deals soon.

Important to Attack

Rangers will be starting the new campaign as one of the favourites after their impressive performances in the previous season.

To ensure that the club will on strengthen further from the on-field success last year, it was important for the Gers to keep hold of the majority of their players beyond the ongoing transfer window.

Even though the Rangers have lost the likes of Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, the fans will be extremely pleased about knowing the fact that players like Kent and Morelos are happy to extend their stay at the Ibrox Stadium.

Kent, who has been at the club since the summer of 2019 after moving from Liverpool in a deal worth £6.48 million, has played 174 matches for Rangers across all competitions where he has managed to score 30 goals and provided 48 assists [Transfermarkt].

On the other hand, Morelos, who joined the club in the summer of 2017 from HJK Helsinki in a deal worth £1.08, has netted 113 times and provided 51 assists in 224 matches for Rangers [Transfermarkt].

In other Rangers news, Nikola Katic’s future appears to have been decided as van Bronkhorst revealed talks behind the scenes with the Croatian.
