Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos would be the best deal the club complete this summer

Rangers tying down talisman Alfredo Morelos to a new deal may be the most important deal the club complete in this transfer window.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst revealed to Sky Sports on 25 July that the Columbian is “positive about signing” a new long-term contract at the club and is prepared to commit his future to the Gers.

The club have had a successful window so far, receiving healthy fees for exiting players and reinvesting that money into the squad in the areas of need.

However, this news may top all the deals they have secured so far this summer and will bring a huge feel-good factor to the club.

Great news for the club

Morelos joined the club in 2017 from Finnish club HJK Helsinki, and has become one of the club’s most important players since moving to Ibrox five years ago.

The Columbian has now made 224 appearances scoring 113 goals during his five years as a Ger, averaging an impressive 23 goals a season.

His performances last season earned him the prestigious Player of the Year award, with 19 goals in 42 appearances, despite missing the last 15 games of the season with a thigh injury.

The Columbian international has also established himself as a creative forward, averaging an impressive 10.2 assists per season, further highlighting his importance to the Rangers’ attack.

His efficient goalscoring, in addition to his energy and personality have led to him becoming a cult hero amongst Rangers fans, and many could not stomach the idea of him leaving the club.

His current contract was meant to end in the summer of 2023, but now with positive words from the manager regarding the star man’s future at the club, they can hopefully plan for the future with their talismanic goalscorer still leading the line soon enough.

In other Rangers news, Kemar Roofe may be close to a Rangers exit.
