Ridvan Yilmaz to leave Besiktas training camp to complete Rangers medical

Besiktas defender Ridvan Yilmaz is set to leave his pre-season camp in Spain to complete his medical ahead of a move to Rangers, according to NTVSpor.

The Gers are in the market to sign players to strengthen the squad after losing a few key players already in the ongoing transfer window.

Earlier on Friday, reports surfaced that Rangers have agreed fee in the region of £5.4million to sign the full-back [Football Scotland].

Bassey replacement

Rangers are coming off the back of an impressive season where they won the Scottish Cup and finished as the runners-up in the UEFA Europa League after losing the final against Eintracht Frankfurt.

The general sense was that the Gers will build on that success, but after losing two key players in Joe Aribo and Calvin Bassey, signings were needed to rebuild again.

The signing of Yilmaz will ease any potential doubts as he is not only young but has proven his class in the Turkish league, especially in the previous campaign.

In the 2021-22 season with Besiktas, the 21-year-old scored three goals and provided four assists in 27 league appearances.

The fullback averaged 1.6 tackles, 1.2 interceptions, 1.1 clearances 0.7 key passes, 0.8 shots per goal and 1.1 dribbles per league game. As a result of his performances, he had a rating of 6.77 [Whoscored].

Time to get this one done.

In other Rangers news, the Gers’ seventh signing of the summer is getting ever closer as a £5.5million bid has been accepted.
