Rangers want to sign £4m Besiktas ace Ridvan Yildmaz

Rangers want to sign Besiktas starlet Ridvan Yilmaz in a £4m deal this summer after completing the signing of Ben Davies from Liverpool, say the Daily Mail.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst was able to bring in his sixth signing of the summer when the club completed a deal for the Liverpool defender, as Rangers prepare for life after Calvin Bassey who is set to join Ajax.

However the club are still looking for a left-back option to add to the squad too, and Turkish international Yilmaz has emerged as a target (July 20) after entering the final 12 months of his contract in Istanbul.

The 21-year-old already has six caps for the Turkish national team and made 33 appearances last season in all competitions, scoring three times and registering four assists.

Rangers are in need of strengthening their squad in the left-back position and Yilmaz looks like the typical shrewd signing that the club is known for making.

Just 21, he possesses excellent abilities in both directions on the pitch and is also capable of playing slightly further forward if required.

That would suit Van Bronckhorst who likes to switch between a three at the back and a four at the back formation, and his crossing ability from out wide will be a great fit for the rest of the squad too.

With Bassey leaving, the club currently have Borna Barisic as their only senior option for the position and with a big £20m windfall expected the £4m asking price for Yilmaz is easily affordable.

He’s a strong dribbler, good passer on the ball, decent aerially and overall a strong player which makes him a solid addition to the Rangers squad if they can get the business done.
