Rangers prepare contract for Ben Davies with agreement now in place for major new transfer - Fabrizio Romano

Rangers are preparing the contract for new signing Ben Davies after everything was approved, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The reliable journalist has shared that Jurgen Klopp has officially given the green light for the defender to leave Liverpool and replace the outgoing Calvin Bassey.

With the final paperwork being produced, Davies will move to Ibrox for an initial £3million with add-ons worth up to another £1million for the Reds.

Writing on his personal Twitter account late on Sunday evening [18 June], Romano shared the next steps after the approval was given by all parties.

“Rangers have completed Ben Davies deal, agreement in place and contracts now being prepared,” he wrote.

“Liverpool will receive £3m guaranteed fee plus £1m in add-ons.

“Klopp approved the deal – Davies will replace Bassey who is joining Ajax, as revealed on Saturday.”

Get it done.

This could turn out to be a brilliant piece of business.

Liverpool may not have played him that much but they must have seen something in him to bring him to Anfield to solve their defensive crisis those years ago.

Jurgen Klopp was adamant he needed a new face, and he turned to Davies in his hour of need, and now he will rock up at Ibrox for a limited fee, leaving us with big pockets once Bassey moves on.

Being able to play at left-back as well as central fills both holes left by the Nigerian international, and means Rangers don’t need to bring in multiple new players at the back.

After this is done, Ross Wilson can concentrate fully on possibly another midfield option, with the Light Blues meaning business over the last couple of weeks.

Money is there to be spent now, and it would be foolish not to expect more new arrivals, even after this one is confirmed in the coming days.
