Rangers only need one more signing to complete 22/23 squad

The transfer business Rangers have done so far this summer has been nothing short of outstanding and there is only one box left to tick.

Giovanni van Bronckhorst has sorted his striker dilemma and gone and got himself a new winger to compliment Ryan Kent as well as a couple of exciting attacking midfielders but he still needs a new left-back.

That is all that is left on his summer tick list to make his Rangers squad complete and he has got names in mind to bring in someone to compete with Borna Barisic.

Namely, Stoke City ace Josh Tymon is the name being mentioned most often at the moment after Alan Nixon of The Sun first reported of our interest in the 23-year-old via his Patreon account on 5 June.

The Sun reported a day earlier that the Light Blues had turned down an offer from Watford for the Croatian but they can’t afford to sell him now with another exit looking more likely.

Calvin Bassey, who was sensational for us at the end of last season, is about ready to sign on the dotted line to make the move to Ajax in a deal worth nearly £20million to the Bears, according to Fabrizio Romano.

Bassey was our defacto other option at left-back even though he was best when in the centre alongside Connor Goldson but without him, our squad looks extremely thin in that department.

Barisic is more than good enough to remain as our starting left-back despite a couple of bad errors in back-to-back Old Firm derbies but he can’t be the only one able to play there.

We need to sign anyone else who can at least be his understudy if not challenge him for that starting berth because we will quickly find out our mistakes if we end this transfer window without a new left-back at the club.

In other Rangers news, the Gers have received a bid worth £8million for one of their star players but they are unlikely to accept it with plenty of European interest.
