Rangers youngster Josh McPake to join Queens Park on season-long loan

Rangers starlet Josh McPake is set to join Queens Park on a season-long loan deal this summer, after a deal with the Championship side was agreed according to Daily Record.

McPake has spent the last two seasons out on loan in England with Harrogate Town, Morecambe and Tranmere Rovers, impressing in the lower divisions down south.

But despite interest from clubs in Holland, England and Scotland, it has been agreed that at this stage of his career a step down to the Scottish Championship is the best move for him.

The 20-year-old has already held talks with manager Owen Coyle and was impressed by their plans for him and the club.

Good move

McPake is clearly highly rated at Ibrox hence the patience with his development, and his performances in pre-season this summer have shown there is a player in him yet.

He has scored in all of the B team and first-team friendly games he’s played in so far this summer, but a move away for more regular game time and space to develop is clearly best for him.

If Rangers want to use him in the first-team in the future, then he needs to get used to Scottish football and a move to Queens Park seems like a perfect fit.

Turning down moves to Holland and England shows that his priority isn’t a big club, but more the right place to develop and that’s a great sign for fans and staff alike.

Hopefully now he can continue to grow as a player this season and have a breakthrough campaign before returning to Ibrox for a big future.

In other Rangers news, the club’s newest signing rejected an offer from another Scottish club before joining
