Malik Tillman turned down Premier League interest to sign for Rangers - Heart & Hand Podcast
New Rangers signing Malik Tillman rejected offers from the English Premier League before agreeing his move to Ibrox, according to David Edgar.
USA international Tillman completed a season-long loan deal to the club from Bayern Munich, with the Bears having an “exclusive” option to make the deal permanent next summer.
But according to the Heart & Hand podcast, who are an official club partner, it wasn’t just Rangers in the running for the 20-year-old forward.
“Tillman had EPL offers,” they wrote on their official Twitter account. “There’s zero doubt our profile is much improved after the EL run.”
Once upon a time Rangers simply couldn’t compete with the Premier League in terms of stature and it was a no contest if they were battling for a player.
But if reports are to be believed, that is three different players that we’ve managed to trump English clubs for this summer and two of them had offers in the Premier League.
Tom Lawrence was quick to change his mind and come to Ibrox, while Rabbi Matondo had the option to go down south too but he’ll be wearing the famous blue shirt as well.
It shows how far the club has come in such a short space of time that they’re able to not only compete, but also win these battles to be able to strengthen their squad.
Tillman has a point to prove to try and get himself into the USA’s World Cup squad, and Ibrox will be his stage to shine and impress this season.
