Ajax and Brighton table offers to sign Rangers star Calvin Bassey as Ibrox board respond
Rangers are facing yet another blockbuster exit as Ajax and Brighton circle for defender Calvin Bassey, according to the Daily Mail.
Both clubs are said to have tabled offers for the Nigerian international, who could now follow fellow countryman Joe Aribo out of Ibrox before the season starts.
It is said that the Ibrox board have turned both of those offers away though, as they simply don’t satisfy their asking price and demands for Bassey if he were to leave.
This is one of those links that don’t appear to be going away.
Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard are also said to be circling still, although they aren’t said to have made that interest concrete with a bid as of yet.
Brighton could lose Marc Cucurella this summer to Manchester City, and Ajax are on the verge of seeing their defensive star, Lisandro Martinez, join Manchester United.

That will put those at Ibrox on edge, with both appearing to have their sights set on Bassey now.
Oh no.
This is not good.
We would all welcome a big £25million injection of cash, but getting rid of one of our best breakthrough stars of the past year may not be the way to do it.
No one could come in and give us what Bassey does, and we should concentrate our time on negotiating a new contract to continue these memories.
Ajax and Brighton both have big money to spend though, and unfortunately, that does talk, although with Aribo moving on, it isn’t exactly needed right now.
Hopefully, the chance to push us into the Champions League next month will outweigh the chance to move away and we can continue making many more memories.
One year just isn’t enough and hopefully, that is how he feels too and can block all of that interest out of his head and concentrate on the new season under Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
