Rangers beat Celtic to sign both Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo - Conservative political advisor
Political advisor Dan McCroskrie claims Tom Lawrence and Rabbi Matondo both turned down Celtic in order t osign for Rangers.
Matondo, 21, completed his £2.5million move to Ibrox from Schalke on Tuesday (12 July) with the Gers’ official media Heart & Hand reporting that Celtic failed with a last-ditch effort to hijack the deal.
McCroskrie, who manages the parliamentary and regional offices of Conservative MSP Donald Cameron, is clearly delighted by Celtic’s failure to match Rangers in the transfer market.
He took to his personal Twitter account on Tuesday to say: “Two players that have turned down Celtic to join Rangers instead is to be expected.
“Welcome Tom and Rabbi!”
As expected, indeed
Rangers won the Scottish Premiership without a defeat in 2020/21 and reached the Europa League final last season.
Why wouldn’t you want to play for the Gers right now?
Celtic only seem able to attract Australians and Japanese players due to the pull their manager has.
While he didn’t work out, Giovanni van Bronckhorst was able to attract Aaron Ramsey from Juventus.
It’s fairly clear that Rangers are the big dogs in Scotland once again with the Light Blues showing Celtic up not once but twice in the transfer market.
It’s a show of the signs and we’ll be shocked if we don’t show them who’s boss in the Scottish Premiership once the new season kicks off.
A lot of work is yet to be done in this summer transfer window.
We need to know what’s happening with Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Glen Kamara now – they either need new deals or should be sold.
And if they are sold, we can expect even more big signings like Lawrence and Matondo.
In other Rangers news, this Gers star has been offered to two big clubs in Europe with a £14.8million fee being mooted.
