Jacob Fowler on trial with Rangers as he pushes for deal at Ibrox
Rangers have offered young Jacob Fowler a trial this summer, according to Football Scotland’s report published on July 8.
Jacob is the teenage son of Liverpool legend, Robbie Fowler, who was more than successful in the game.
As per the report, the teenager is keen to clinch a deal with the Light Blues and has already featured in a game this pre-season with the academy.
During the pre-season match against Carlisle, the 16-year-old was joined by the likes of Mason Munn, Souleyman Mandey, Kieron Willox, Cameron Cooper, Lancelot Pollard and Bailey Rice.
The 16-year-old played the first half of the pre-season match against Carlisle where he impressed many of the Rangers scouts.
The match took place at the Auchenhowie training where the young Fowler looked to earn himself a contract at the club.
Fowler Jnr. played only the first 45 minutes for Cameron Campbell’s side where he is believed to have impressed in the 4-1 win over the English opponents despite not getting onto the scoresheet.
It remains unclear whether he will continue to train in the next few weeks because he did impress many footballing people at Rangers at such a young age.
Will he be a similar sort of star as his father?
Only time will tell but the Rangers youth management and the fans would expect to see at least the same level of commitment that Robbie showed in his playing years where he was rated as one of the most hard-working centre-forwards in Europe.
