Joe Aribo will reportedly seal his Rangers exit in the next 48 hours and join Premier League side Southampton.

According to the Scottish Sun, the Saints are closing in on a deal which could involve them paying the Ibrox giants £10million in order to secure the services of the Nigeria international.

While Southampton are looking to bring down the valuation of the 23-year-old, Gers are determined to holding out for a fee that totals that including add-ons.

Jim White also tweeted something to a similar extent.

He wrote, “Joe Aribo set to leave RangersFC for SouthamptonFC in 24/48 hours – £10m package.”

Good deal?

Aribo had made his mind up to leave this summer and with the growing Premier League interest it was going to be hard to keep him.

Players and managers leave the SPFL for the English top flight to better their career prospects and he felt that it was time for him to do the same as well.

There were links with Aston Villa initially and talks of a reunion with Steven Gerrard were said to be on the cards, but that was quickly rubbished.

Crystal Palace and Fulham were also clubs that made sense for the London-born player as he would be closer to friends and family.

However, he is now joining the club on the south cast and by the looks of it, Rangers will be getting what they’ve always wanted for the Nigerian.

While it is possible to bring down transfer fees despite release clauses, the hierarchy held firm and will now reap the benefits of it.

Southampton have a billionaire owner in Dragan Salak so can easily afford to pay what Gers want for the player.

Hopefully, the club spend the money on the right players.

In other Rangers news, contract talks with a key player have hit a new impasse with a summer exit now on the cards.
