Time for Rangers to sell midfielder Joe Aribo after recent development

Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo has reportedly declined the new contract offer to stay at the Ibrox Stadium, according to the talkSport.

The Nigeria international has been a source of attraction for many Premier League clubs, including Aston Villa, where his former manager Steven Gerrard is the current manager.

As per the report, the Gers offered a new contract to Aribo in order to keep him at the club beyond the summer of 2023 but the player has rejected it.

The 25-year-old, who now has less than 12 months left on his deal with the current club, is a Rangers player since the summer of 2019 when he moved from Charlton Athletic. ย

Painful call

If you ask the Rangers fans about Aribo, they will only say that the man is a machine. The central midfielder holds the record for the highest number of minutes and games played for club and country in the 2021-22 campaign where 57 of those games were associated with Rangers, in which he made 19 goal contributions [Transfermarkt].

With his incredible work ethic and ability to sustain fitness, he is the kind of player who is extremely hard to replace for any team, let alone a club like Rangers who are still finding their feet once again.

However, with less than 12 months remaining on his deal and with the player refusing the new contract, it is time for Rangersโ€™ top-tier management to make a call and sell Aribo before he will run down his contract and leave the club for free next summer.

While the call might be painful, it is important that the Rangers must make the most out of a rather desperate situation and get as much money as possible to let go of their star player.

In other Rangers news,ย alarm bells are ringing at Ibrox over the move to seal this big-money signing.
