Rangers have great chance of landing Manchester City midfielder James McAtee

Rangers stand a good chance of landing Manchester City youngster James McAtee as the Gers ready another loan bid for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder.

The Scottish Sun reported on Saturday 2 July that the Gers have launched another loan bid for the youngster after failing with a January move for the Manchester City man.

McAtee has had a remarkable season in PL2, managing 18 goals and seven assists for City’s under-23 side.

Despite facing competition from the likes of Leeds, Brighton, Huddersfield and Swansea, the Gers stand a good chance of landing an ambitious move for the attacker.

Firstly, Rangers are the only club interested in the attacker who can offer European football next season and that is something Pep Guardiola will be desperate for the teenage sensation to experience whilst out on loan.

Furthermore, the Gers have shown that they are challengers in European competitions and going deep into the latter stages of a European cup would be an invaluable experience for McAtee.

Secondly, the Rangers manager has a close relationship with Guardiola and has previously worked at City in 2019 and his relationship with the Premier League champions could prove a key factor in enticing McAtee to Ibrox.

Finally, the Rangers boss is not afraid to entrust in youth with the likes of 19-year-old Alex Lowry being given first-team chances towards the end of last season.

McAtee would certainly be a coup if the club can pull it off and it’s good to see the Rangers boss target younger players, to compliment the older heads in his squad.

Let’s all hope that the Manchester City sensation is wearing a darker shade of blue at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
