Stuart McCall urges Rangers to keep ‘exciting’ winger Ryan Kent

Former Rangers manager Stuart McCall believes that the club’s top-tier management must do all they can to ensure that winger Ryan Kent will extend his contract.

Manager Giovanni van Bronckhorst has huge decisions to make regarding the star trio of Kent, Alfredo Morelos and Joe Aribo, all of whom are now in the final year of their contract with the Gers.

The 58-year-old, while talking to the Daily Record, stated that if he would have a choice to keep one player out, it would be Kent.

“I’d say there are more centre forwards out there than guys who can go and really open up a game the way Kent can,” he said.

“He’s such an exciting talent when games are tight. He’s a player you look to and think he can make something happen. These days we don’t see so many wide players with that ability to come inside and play off the front.

“But looking across Europe, I think it’s probably a lot easier to find strikers who could come to Scotland and score 20 goals a season. As good as Morelos has been, I’d think I’d choose Kent because he’s a match winner.”

Big calls

This is the time when Van Bronckhorst truly has to start showing why he has been appointed in his role in the first place.

As we mentioned before, there are many notable names entering the last year of their contract and there has only been one signing made so far this summer in John Souttar.

As the Dutch manager starts preparing for his first full season at the Ibrox stadium, he has to make key decisions as quickly as possible regarding the team.

Creativity in midfield is the biggest concern heading into this season and it was something that the Gers lacked desperately after the injury to Ianis Hagi.

It is because of this reason people like McCall are asking the club hierarchy to ensure that they keep the likes of Kent at the club, at any cost.
