Rangers ready box-office bid to beat Premier League clubs to loan signing of Manchester City wonder James McAtee

Rangers are readying an ambitious bid to seal the box-office loan signing of Manchester City wonder James McAtee this summer, according to the Scottish Sun.

The newspaper has reported on their website that Ibrox chiefs are now desperate to get a deal over the line and hijack numerous English clubs with the lure of European football.

Premier League sides such as Leeds United and Brighton are interested, as well as those in the Championship, with Huddersfield, said to currently lead the race.

The possibility of Champions League football could play a huge part in this decision.

Pep Guardiola will be weighing up all options and will know that Giovanni van Bronckhorst is only one call away with that relationship potentially leaning McAtee closer to Ibrox.

Rangers are four games away from Europe’s biggest club competition and are guaranteed Europa League football, either way, something that the likes of Leeds and Brighton cannot offer.

The Bears tried and failed with a move for McAtee back in January, but after the success at the end of the campaign, they are hoping for a big change in heart.

Box Office.

McAtee is widely regarded as one of the best young talents at Manchester City, which says all you need to know at one of the sides currently dominating English football along with Liverpool.

Amad Diallo was a failed experiment from Manchester United last time around, but this would be much different, with that central attacking role something that may need to be strengthened.

Aaron Ramsey was the big-money option for the second half of the season, and it didn’t work, but imagine one of England’s best wonders, with everything to prove coming up to Ibrox for a shot.

Van Bronckhorst will be begging Ross Wilson to get this over the line, and surely Guardiola would much prefer the move to Glasgow over Huddersfield, and if not, that is just embarrassing management from one of the best.

This is certainly one to watch, with a box-office bid in the pipeline and around the corner as we really look to step up our transfer activity over the next week.

In other Rangers news, scouts at Ibrox are said to have watched this ‘immense’ powerhouse numerous times ahead of a potential major transfer
