Rangers interest in Antonio Colak worrying indication for Alfredo Morelos future

Rangers have been linked with a move for PAOK’s 28-year-old striker Antonio Colak – and this could be a worrying indication of where Alfredo Morelos’ future lies.

It was reported by The Chronicle on 14 June that contract negotiations between the Gers and Morelos had stalled.

Furthermore, The Scottish Sun reported on 27 June that Rangers are set to “step up” their interest in Colak and this could well be Giovanni van Bronckhorst preparing for the Colombian’s Ibrox departure.

With Morelos, Joe Aribo and Ryan Kent all in precarious contract situations, it is crucial that Rangers’ boss thoroughly prepares for their potential exits this summer.

It is looking highly unlikely that Morelos will put pen to paper on a new deal and Rangers cannot afford to lose the talismanic striker for free next summer.

The 26-year-old could still generate a decent-sized fee if he was sold this summer.

The sad reality for Rangers is that there is little they can do to combat the huge contract offers Premier League clubs, as well as some clubs on the continent, can offer.

It is good to see the Gers linked to a striker with Morelos potentially on his way out of Ibrox, but surely the transfer activity needs to ramp up in the coming weeks.

It’s a surprise that Rangers haven’t used the Europa League run as a platform to really kick on at the start of the summer.

It is hardly encouraging for the Ibrox faithful heading into the 2022/23 campaign with the Gers looking to close the domestic gap to Celtic.

In other Rangers news, scouts at Ibrox are said to have watched this ‘immense’ powerhouse numerous times ahead of a potential major transfer
