Aston Villa cool interest in Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo – report
Aston Villa are not interested in making a move for Rangers star midfielder Joe Aribo in the ongoing transfer window, according to the Express and Star.
The Nigeria international has been heavily linked with a move away from the Ibrox Stadium summer and Villa were reportedly one of the frontrunners.
However, as per the latest report, manager Steven Gerrard is happy with the options in midfield after the signing of Boubacar Kamara and therefore, has cooled down his interest in the 25-year-old.
Aribo, who is now set to enter the final year of his contract with the Gers, is valued at around £9million by Transfermarkt.
If you ask the fans about Aribo, they will only have positive things to say about the player. The 25-year-old has become a midfield general for both his international side and the domestic side and it seems like it is going to be the case for years to come.
The Nigeria international played the most minutes out of any European footballer across both domestic and international competitions in 2021-22.
Considering his achievements in his career already, he looks destined to be a part of Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s football model for years to come. [Whoscored].
He likes to play as a central midfielder. However, he can also play as a pivot player depending upon the manager’s instructions.
In the recent season, he created a fantastic partnership with Glen Kamara in the middle of the park after the injury to Ianis Hagi.
Those characters show why he is adored by the Ibrox-faithful and the recent development will be music to ears for them.
