Sky Sports journalist shares what he’s been told about Rangers and Joe Aribo
Rangers are “relaxed” about Joe Aribo’s situation about Ibrox despite interest from the English Premier League, according to Rangers Review and Sky Sports journalist Joshua Barrie.
Writing via his personal Twitter account on Thursday night (23 June), Barrie reported that while there are clubs south of the border who are keen on the 25-year-old who’s out of contract next year, the Gers are hopeful of pocketing a decent fee for him.
Rangers signed Aribo for just £300,000 in 2019 after his contract expired at Charlton and it looks as though they’re keen to make a significant profit on that.
Writing on Twitter, Barrie said: “Regarding Joe Aribo I’m told that Rangers are relaxed about his contract situation.
“There is interest from the Premier League, but I understand the club remain confident they can make a significant profit for Aribo in this window. In keeping with the player trading model.”
Irreplaceable?
Rangers won’t find it easy to replace any of their stars of the last couple of seasons.
Aribo is among a special bunch that managed to win the Scottish Premiership title without suffering defeat, reach the Europa League final to lose only on penalties and win the Scottish Cup.
He’ll go down as a modern-day hero at Ibrox, especially for his goal in Seville against Frankfurt.
However, Aribo looks as though he may have already played his final game for the Scottish Cup champions and efforts need to be ramped up to find a replacement.

Is Aribo irreplaceable though?
For club and country, he played a word-record 70 times in all competitions in the 2021/22 season.
At Rangers, he scored nine goals and supplied 10 assists in 57 total appearances.
He played in the centre of the midfield, on the right-wing as a number 10 and even as a false nine.
Aribo won’t be easy to find a replacement for and Ross Wilson has to be sure he’s getting the right man in if Aribo goes.
In other Rangers news, the Gers have tabled a new bid to seal a major signing at Ibrox.
