Rangers midfielder Joe Aribo on radar of three Premier League clubs

Rangers could be destined to lose midfielder Joe Aribo as two new Premier League sides enter the race for his signature, according to All Nigeria Soccer.

Crystal Palace were already known to be in the hunt to sign the 25-year-old but they have now been joined by the newly-promoted duo of Nottingham Forest and Fulham.

The Nigerian international has just 12 months left on his current contract at Ibrox and the club appears willing to listen to offers for their creative spark to avoid losing him on a free next summer.

Aston Villa, Brentford and Southampton are also keeping an eye on his situation but they are far less interested at this stage so a move from any of those is highly unlikely.

Aribo had to play as a false nine towards the end of the 2021-22 campaign for Rangers as Alfredo Morelos and Kemar Roofe were both injured but he still managed to score in the Europa League final while out of position as a natural central midfielder.

Auction time

Everyone seems well aware that we are willing to sell the 25-year-old this summer and that could lead to some clubs trying to low-ball us when it comes to the transfer fee.

Imagine if we did something never seen before in football and hold an auction for the player and invite any team who fancies signing him to attend.

Much like the Indian Premier League auction in cricket, every team would have a table of representatives and they would make the auctioneer aware of their intentions to bid and the price keeps rising until one team is left standing.

Like how all auctions work come to think of it.

We could even do a double serving and try to get as much as possible for Alfredo Morelos too who is in a similar predicament.

It would be highly unusual but that is perhaps the best way to drive up the price because the teams can see each other eye to eye and neither would want to back down without a fight.
